Ohio's Prevention Community Convenes for OPPA Conference 2024
Prevention professionals throughout Ohio came together for OPPA Conference 2024, our one-day, in-person event for Ohio’s prevention professionals and advocates, on May 2, 2024. The conference was held at The Fawcett Center in Columbus.
Themed Navigating Change: How Prevention Stays Adaptable, the conference explored the current and future landscapes of prevention with Ohio’s prevention experts and leaders, including building on our field's resilience and forward-thinking approach to prevention.
The conference day also kicked off recognition of OPPA’s 40th anniversary as Ohio’s Voice for Prevention -- including a historical retrospective of Ohio's prevention history and lessons learned, provided by some of our field's most esteemed professionals. During the conference luncheon, we presented the 2024 OPPA Prevention Awards, honoring prevention excellence in our state through recognition of five individual prevention professionals for their local and/or statewide contributions to prevention.
"We continue to build on OPPA's long history of professional development and advocacy for Ohio's prevention community through coalescing our field for our annual conference," notes OPPA President Holly Zweizig. "Our tradition of education, dialogue, and networking continues to ground the OPPA Conference, and our May 2 event exemplified those priorities."
